Description
Have you ever dreamed of devoting your life to helping pets whose families can’t afford care? To never having to present a client with an estimate they can’t pay? To never having to watch a family euthanize or surrender their beloved cat or dog, simply because they couldn’t afford a life-saving surgery?
Have you always wanted to work for a non-profit?
Because if so, The Sam Simon Foundation is looking for someone just like you!
____
Company Description
The Sam Simon Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) that was founded in 2003. We are entirely funded by the generosity of the late Sam Simon, and proudly provide all services completely free to program recipients.
Since 2004, our mobile veterinary clinic has traveled to under-served communities throughout Los Angeles, offering free surgeries for cats and dogs belonging to low-income families. We began as a high-volume spay/neuter clinic, then expanded our capabilities in 2007 to include a wide range of surgical procedures.
We are the only one of our kind, and very often, the only option for families who cannot afford life-saving surgery for their beloved pets.
____
Program Description
Our mobile clinic works Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday throughout the year. We offer a wide range of surgical procedures, such as amputations, entropion repair, enucleations, mass removals, mastectomies, wound repair, and more.
We do not offer overnight care, so we only perform surgeries that will allow us to safely send the pet home the same day.
We schedule two high-volume spay/neuter days per month, with the rest of the days being full surgery.
We do not offer wellness exams, diagnostics, or ongoing treatment.
Our daily clinical staff includes:
- One veterinarian
- Three experienced RVTs
- A receptionist
- A driver who also assists throughout the day
___
Key responsibilities
The Sam Simon Foundation is seeking an experienced veterinarian who is skilled in performing a wide variety of surgeries. We understand that there will probably be a learning curve with any newcomer, so our current doctor is happy to help his replacement ease into the position.
___
Responsibilities include:
- Completing roughly 5-7 surgeries per day.
- Performing pre-surgical exams on all surgeries.
- Conducting separate pre-operative and post-operative exams as needed.
- Reviewing client applications and cases on a daily or near-daily basis.
- Attending quarterly staff meetings.
- The veterinarian will also hold the clinic’s Premise Permit in his or her name.
___
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
